Transcription is typically very quick. For example, a 90-minute audio takes about 5–6 minutes to process.

Japanese transcription with kanji + kana output

Japanese is one of the more demanding languages for speech-to-text because the same syllable can be spelled in hiragana, katakana, or kanji — and the right choice depends on context. Audionotes' speech models output mixed kanji-kana script the way native readers expect: kanji for content words, hiragana for grammatical particles and inflections, katakana for foreign loanwords. Honorific keigo levels (sonkeigo, kenjōgo, teineigo) are preserved in the transcript without normalising downward. Long-vowel marks (ー), small tsu (っ), and yōon are handled correctly. For business, medical, and academic Japanese, the AI summary follows the conventions of Japanese professional writing — appropriate honorifics, polite forms, and the topic-comment sentence structure. Mixed Japanese-English speech (common in tech meetings) is handled without falling back to romaji.
